Diablo

continued

did I say battle.net is awesome?
I can't finish this review without a discussion of battle.net. (I also can't discuss battle.net in Finnish. My apologies to my fans in Finland.) Blizzard has truly advanced online gaming by including built-in access to its free Internet gaming service. From a PC connected to the Internet, simply choose "multiplayer" from the main menu, select a character, hit "battle.net," and you're there. The chat rooms on battle.net allow for easy game setup and even show players' latency ratings. Private games are easy to set up using a password, and aside from some bearable latency, playability is excellent. Several clans and orders have already formed--it's really too bad you can play with only four players at a time--and I'm hoping they'll let my character from Telengard join until my Diablo character is worthy. Thank you, Blizzard, for giving me the game I've been looking for since I found my first +150 sword.

If you've read this far, I apologize. I apologize for my campy humor, wasting your valuable Diablo playing time, and what I'm going to do to you on battle.net. You see, while you've been reading this, I've gained two more levels. If you don't believe me, go to Hell--and I'll see you there.

tips
-Although Diablo requires little hard disk space, it performs much better with more RAM. More memory can even help diminish the effects of latency during Internet play.
-If you're playing a sorcerer, learn the Mana Shield spell as soon as possible. Sorcerers generally have more magic points than hit points, and the Mana Shield makes damage count against Mana instead of health.
-If you have a strong resistance to fire, the Fire Wall spell can be very effective against multiple enemies. Lay down four walls of fire next to each other and stand in the middle. Then watch the monsters turn to ash as they close in for the kill.

Hugh Falk has no clue about the gaming industry in general and wouldn't know a good game if it was crammed down his throat. This biography is dedicated to those hardworking programmers and quality-assurance engineers who have taken the time to critique his crappy reviews of their perfect games.
